What a founder looks like when the paper stops deciding.

Every deck an investor opens now is tight, because the tools that produce a tight one are free. What is left to read is the founder, and that is the part The Best Match works on.

The work

Founders arrive at a roadshow having been told to fix the deck. What actually separates two companies with the same metrics is whether the story, the paper and the person hold together when someone starts pulling at them.

A founder coming out of this programme has had every number in the deck traced back to its source, has had the deck, the model and the data room read against each other, and has sat through a practice call with the questions a partner would ask.

Nobody on a target list is paid to introduce anyone, and no fee is taken for an introduction.

The research

A study of founders and funders, run with Super Stories.

The podcast archive is the raw material: fund managers, angels and founders on record about what decides a raise. The interviews use the same questions the intake uses, which makes the two comparable.

The newsletter carries what comes out of it, roughly monthly. No pitches and no portfolio.

Second opinion

A read on a founder you are considering.

Occasionally an investor asks for a read on someone before committing. That is a separate engagement, it is never taken while working with the same founder on a raise, and it is priced per case.
